Keeping your lawn healthy and lush can be time consuming.  Many new homeowners do not realize how much effort they will have to put into their lawn to ensure that they are getting the results that they want with their grass. When you have a lawn, you should be sure that you know what type of grass is growing in your front yard. Once you know what type of grass is growing, you can figure out what the ideal cutting height is for the grass that you have.

To keep your lawn at the perfect height, you will need to mow your lawn on a consistent basis.  Once the grass gets a third higher than the prescribed height, you will want to head out with your lawn mower.  Depending on the time of year and the health of the grass, this may mean that you are mowing your lawn once every four to five days.

Mowing consistently will enable you to cut off weed heads before they are able to sprout, flower and spread throughout your lawn.  When you know the ideal height for your lawn, you may also be keeping weeds away from the sunlight that they are going to need to survive and thrive in your lawn.
