Getting a Head Start on Your Garden

GardeningIf you’ve been thinking about starting a home garden, it’s not too early! Getting started now can ensure that your garden will be prepared to flourish this year. Although you may not be able to start planting until spring, there is a lot of work that you can do to help the chances that your garden has of success.

  1.  1.  Choose a site for your garden. Make sure that you find somewhere that has at least 8-10 hours of sunlight throughout the day.  As you are looking for a convenient location you should be sure that you are close enough to a supply of water. The soil should be a good texture and you want to make sure it doesn’t retain too much water. Avoid choosing an area that has hard growing weeds in it.
  2. Make a plan for your garden so you can order the seed and have it arrive on time. While you are planning out your garden it is important that you take any special requirements of the plants into consideration. Consider rotating through different plants during different seasons to ensure you get the most out of the space that you have
  3. Buy your seeds from a company that you know you can trust. Order a variety of seeds to ensure you have exactly what you want to start your garden.

When you have a plan and you have your seeds ready to go, planting will go very smoothly. You can ensure that you are able to get everything put into your plot successfully. Winter time can be productive for gardeners too!
