When it comes to putting in grass, it is important to find quality grass that will last through weather conditions based on where you live. If you live in a hot climate, you need to find grass that is grows well and flourishes despite the downpour of heat.

Whereas, if you live in a climate that receives a lot of recipitation, you need to have grass that can withstand the increase of water. All of these conditions are dependent on area and season, etc. There are a few grass types, which are known to be stronger and better when it comes to dealing with various conditions:

1. First we have a grass called bermuda. This grass thrives well in tropical and subptropical areas. It also does well in the transition areas.

2. Next, we have bluegrass. This grass is better in cool seasons and populates the ground with high quality grass. It is more dense if it has pure strands for growing.

3. Last, we have zoysia. Compared to bluegrass, this type of grass is for the warm seasons, and it orignated in Asia. Some of the good things about this grass is that it has salt tolerance and deep roots.

Wherever you live, whatever the condition, be sure to find a grass that suits your area!

Plastic Flamingo July 9th, 2010

Plastic FlamingoLawn ornaments have been around for many years. The most famous of them all is the plastic flamingo. But where did this trend come from?

The plastic flamingo was created in 1957 by Don Featherstone. The plastic flamingo has become one of the world’s largest icons of pop culture. This creation won Don Featherstone and IG Nobel Prize for art in 1996.

The originals were always sold in pairs, one of which had its head upright, while the other had its head down to the ground as if it were feeding.

Once as a prank, a slope on the University of Wisconsin’s campus was covered with well over a 1000 of these birds.

These birds have become so popular that Madison Wisconsin has the plastic flamingo as its official bird.
